Digital Leadership Academy

About The Program

This program focuses on all the innovative strategies senior executives must implement to manage digital projects, digital platforms, or digital ecosystems and create value. It is specially designed for current or prospective professionals who would be digital leaders in large-scale digital projects. The program aims for participants to learn all the tactics and approaches required while managing a large-scale digital ecosystem.

Program Format

The program consists of 10 parts, 2 hours per week, with live, synchronized lessons. Lessons will be held on the MsTeams platform. To maximize the benefit for everyone, you are expected to attend every session, complete all assignments, and contribute effectively in class and small groups. We advise setting aside 2-3 hours of reading and studying per week in addition to the synchronous class sessions.

Key Topics

Week 1: Leading the Digital Transformation

This first course of the program discusses the fundamental principles of digital transformation. It sets out the essential distinctions as to whether a project is a digitalization or a digital transformation project. Explain the theory of destructiveness through examples of destructive business models. It has students question whether the business models of Uber, iPhone, and other global companies are disruptive. It showcases the outputs of digital transformation. It frames how a digital leader should design a digital strategic plan in seven steps.

Week 2: Dynamics of Digital Transformation

This class focuses on why digital executives should perceive digital transformation as a business mutation approach. It discusses the reasons for the failure of digital transformation and innovation-centered information technology projects. It covers the effects of concepts such as big data and artificial intelligence on digital transformation processes.

Week 3: Building Digital Platforms and Ecosystems

This course is the first in which we cover digital platforms and ecosystems. Discusses "Digital Platform Equilibrium Theory" by revealing the management dynamics of digital platforms. It showcases three basic tactics business professionals can use when setting up digital platforms. It teaches the critical digital business frameworks vital to digital ecosystem management.

Week 4: Competing with Digital Business Models

This course, which covers bidirectional and multi-sided platforms, focuses on the concept of digital scaling. List the differences between the concept of digital scaling and the concept of economies of scale. It also discusses the following two case studies on digital scaling:

Case Study 1: How to compete with AirBnb? Example of Accord Hotels.

Case Study 2: Is it possible to compete with Delivery Hero? An approach through Dark Kitchen Business Models.

Week 5: Creating Innovation in Digital Ecosystems

We started to establish and manage our digital platforms. So, which digital management approaches will we use in this journey? This course details the four techniques necessary to create interaction on digital platforms, the three elements that will leverage our ecosystems, and the innovation success characteristics that will form the basis. We discuss the impact of big data, corporate collaborations on digital innovation, and list growth hacking approaches.

Week 6: Generating a Revenue Stream in a Digital Environment

This course discusses five questions that digital leaders should ask themselves when building a digital platform. We explain the network features that must be carefully managed for digital platforms. We detail how to monetize your platforms and calculate a financial valuation of a digital platform while focusing on the interaction and revenue created through the platforms.

Case Study: Financial Valuation of Netflix

Week 7: Leveraging Digital Customer Experience for Digital Innovation

How can a link be established between the "brand perception, brand equity," and "user experience" of businesses and customers? Why is value alignment so crucial to business processes? How to create/achieve "customer loyalty" with User Experience? We seek answers in this course by focusing on the digital value proposition.

Week 8: Managing the Digital Team: The Human Resources aspect of Digital Innovation

If ten items need to be accomplished for a digital transformation project to be successful, at least six are related to "human." For this reason, the essential element of digital transformation projects is “human”. The journey of our business to create a corporate culture that embraces, perceives, and is digitally aware of digital transformation will begin and continue with "people." In this course, we discuss the effects of digital transformation and innovation processes on corporate culture and organization, human resources strategy recommendations to be followed in digital transformation processes, and the impact of the human element on digital transformation process performance and performance measurement.

Week 9: Designing a SuperApp Strategy

Is the concept of "SuperApp" the strategy we should implement, or is the "SuperApp Strategy" a phenomenon that needs to be conducted as a separate concept? We may fall into the mistake of perceiving SuperApps as a Two-Sided Online Marketplace. While the supplier cluster has the same features in applications that work with the Double or Multi-Sided Online Marketplace business model, the suppliers in SuperApps differ in every aspect. In this course, we focus on SuperApp digital management strategies.

Week 10: Ensuring Innovation for HiTech Companies

Is the digital transformation of a technology company possible? Do you think companies such as Instagram and Netflix have completed their digital transformation processes? We explain the answers to these questions in this lesson. We discuss how technology companies can make their digital transformations through digital innovation by discussing the examples of Instagram and Netflix.

Case Study 1: Digital Transformation of Instagram : Platform Thinking.

Case Study 2: Digital Transformation of Netflix: The “All-in” Strategy.
